Potd 03/15/11
yeah so maybe i wont do this every day, im having a creativity block lately and ive already gone through all my old photos pretty much so unless i shoot something new, i really have nothing to post. Today i started aimlessly driving north out of st george and eventually came across some old farm equipment that was pretty interesting. Sky was ok'ish but the light was nothing special, oh well cant have everything i guess.

PoTD 03/11/11
Today was a pretty lazy day. However, i was rewarded for my lack of motivation today with a pretty nice sunset. Whenever clouds form to the southwest of our camp before sunset it always turns out pretty nice. As ive been on an HDR kick lately I saw it as an opportunity for more practice and my motivation was rekindled.
Todays image is comprised of 18 total exposures rendered in to 3 seperate HDR images and merged in to a panorama. Final print size is 37" x 12" at 300 dpi.

Roof proj teaser
Ive spoken several times about a roof project isaac caldiero is working on. Ive also spoken several times about wanting to learn how to edit video. Thus, i figured this would be a good opportunity to try and put something together. So to start i created a little teaser of the climb/moe's valley. i am rather happy for my first ever work with final cut pro. i find it to be a lot like macromedia flash which i was quite good with a long time ago down by a fire. hope you enjoy!

Isaac Caldiero and undeveloped Utah granite
So anyone that's involved in the climbing scene has probably heard of Isaac Caldiero. He's a fantastic climber and an even cooler person. Same can be said for his girlfriend, Laura. Nancy and I have been spending a lot of time with them over the past few weeks and today we joined them again for another journey. Today we headed to some more undeveloped granite boulder problems in the foothills outside Saint George. Isaac has 3 problems that he is trying to put up on one amazing boulder. This boulder probably clocks in at around 100k tons. Stands probably 30-40 feet high from the base of the routes and is heavily overhanging throughout. Isaac has come close on all of the problems and with some more work should have them soon. Grading is quite subjective as Isaac will be the first to tell you however he says that he feels all these problems are in the v13/14 range. From an outside perspective I cant say i disagree. The problems are very powerful on small sloping granite holds some of them with quite sharp inclusions. All this perfectly placed on a 45 to 75 degree overhanging roof. All in all it makes for a fantastic project. Not that anything else would be needed to draw my attention to this area, but there is certainly much much more. Hundreds and Hundreds of undeveloped boulders sitting throughout this valley all being nicely overlooked by pine valley mountain. It makes for breathtaking views and even better climbing. I have thoroughly enjoyed taking pictures of Isaac over the last few days and even more so conversing with him. I leave you now with some pictures of Isaac hard at work on these wonderful projects!

Best life EVER!
So the last few days have been super sick. Climbing in the valley with a huge crew every day, tons of inspiration to do problems and our group has had a ton of success. Our neighbor, Isaac Caldiero (professional climber for Moon, 5.10 shoes, Alpine Aire foods, Raw Revolution, Momentum Video Magazine, and Flashed.) has a project in the valley that is coming along nicely and its very very possible he gets it today (heres hoping). This roof might be the coolest problem in Moe's such a great horizontal roof.
Yesterday i got the chance to meet Joe Kinder and take some pictures of him sending Show of Hands (V11) a real classic out here at moe's. He's a super cool guy with a great personality and i understand for sure why companies choose him to be their ambassador. Joe is a professional climber for La Sportiva, Petzl, Sterling Ropes, Metolious, Eastern Mountain Sports, Gregory Packs, Smith Optics and Nutriex.
As for me, ive climbed 3 new problems in the last 2 days (including one that i had been working for a week) and 5 new problems the day before that at the Browse Granite boulders, overall definitely the most successful week of climbing ive had yet. I have my eye on a couple more problems and if all goes well i should have climbed atleast one V6 by the end of Feb. which i would be really psyched on. Not bad progression for 2 months of bouldering in my opinion. Outside of climbing myself ive been taking a lot of photos of the other people in our crew climbing lately and some of them have come out fantastic. Overall the last few days of my life have been beyond outstanding, and i definitely hope there is many more of them to come. Here is some various pictures of our crew playing around in Moe's.
